US SIGNS PEACE DEAL WITH TALIBAN
The United States signed landmark deal with the Taliban in February laying out a time table for a full troop withdrawal from Afghanistan within 14 months as the country seeds an exit from its longest-ever war the agreement is expected to lead to a dialogue between the Taliban and the Kabul government that, if successful, could ultimately see and to the grinding 18 year conflict. talibans sheltering of Al-Qaeda was the main reason for the US invasion following the 9/11 attacks.
Taliban-fighter-turned-dealmaker Mulla brother signed the Accord along side washington's chief negotiator Zalmay khalilzad, at a gilded desk in a conference room in a luxury hotel in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The duo then shook hands, as people in the room shouted "Allah Hu Akbar" (god is greatest). US secretary of State my pampio urged the insergents to "keep your promise to cut thighs with alkyda". the US and its allies will withdraw all their forces from Afghanistan within 14 months if the Taliban abide by the terms of the Accord.
Since the US lead invasion that ousted the Taliban after the September 11,2001 attacks, America has spent more than one trillion dollar in fighting and rebuilding in Afghanistan. About 2400 US soldiers have been killed, along with tense of thousands of Afghan troops, Taliban fighters and Afghan civilians.
But the position of the Afghan government, which has been excluded from direct us- Taliban talks, remains and clear and the country is gripped by a fresh political crisis Ahmed contested election results. Under the deal, Taliban wants 5000 fighters to be released from Afghan-run jails, but it's not clear whether the Kabul government will agree.
The insurgent have halted all hostilities in honour of the agreement.
Afghans are eager to see an and to the violence , expert se any prospective peace will depend on the outcome of dogs between the Taliban and the Kabul government.
Unfortunately, the February 2020 deal struck by the US with the Taliban in Doha to effectively withdraw and solve the dispute and safely withdraw their troops from kabul. In these days the war has a tendency of being marketed as a model for engagement with insurgencies and extremist groups to find middle-path solutions to long-running conflicts. The fact is that there should be no space to romanticise the US-Taliban agreement, which gave significant room for political and militaristic manoeuvre to the Taliban while restricting the US to concentrate on its withdrawal from a two-decade long conflict, with the Taliban agreeing to not conduct attacks against US troops in that period.
Ultimately, it was a recipe to hand the Afghan geography to the members of the Taliban and it is an insurgency itself, with the Afghan government (The Taliban Government) abandoning its people and the country’s armed forces dissolving within months of this agreement
